5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly easy to use!, June 14, 2008

If you bought a hammock and are in need of tree straps then look no further. These tree straps are extremely easy to use, setup is literally measured almost in seconds rather then minutes. You simply wrap it around a tree, put one end through a loop, then hang your hammock! One cool feature is the 6 different loops you can hang your hammock from. This makes it very easy to hang your hammock just right.

I love these tree straps because of how easy they are to setup/tear down. Now my hammock can easily go with me on camping trips! If there is a down-side it might be the weight limit (400 lbs). So this might not be the right solution if you're planning on having the whole family hang out on your hammock. Otherwise this product is absolutely perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Did exactly what I needed, May 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)

I have used my ENO hammock for 10 years using rope. I finally got annoyed with the set up and decided to purchase the slap strap pro. I am on a college campus where trees are not always that close together, and it works incredibly. It takes less a minute to set up. I love the quick setup and the versatility. I wish I purchased it years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Homemade version is doable, but this is slick, January 4, 2012

Why pay $20 for a piece of cord? I wondered that myself, but thanks to a great hammock + straps christmas gift, I now understand.

Basically this cord has a loop on one end, and then tie-off points spaced out through the rope. Ascii art illustration:
()----o----o----o----o----o---

To use this, you thread the flat end through the loop end, wrapping around the tree (or whatever) you are using. This is super simple, super fast. And the great past is that now you dont have anything to tighten or clamp - if the trees are far away, you simply use the tie off loops towards the end of the strap. If they are close, you use the tie off loop closer to the top. Its much better than dealing with winching or tieing off knots.

With that said, you could make your own version of something like this if you had mastery of knots (which I dont) and some good rope - but would it be able to hold up the 400 pound rated load of my double hammock? Not sure. If you plan on... Read more
