I have one of these. I have owned and used it for almost 3 years. I use it for gardening and tree branch removal. Outside of some sharpening marks I've made it looks like the day it arrived. I live in a very wet climate (PACNW) and even though it is a high carbon blade and the hide on the sheath leather is meant to be temperature temperamental - no rust or shinkage of the leather. Minor tarnish to the brass is all - would happen anywhere with use. It arrived quickly, as I can remember and I received a nice thank you letter from the factory - addressed by name to me since I ordered directly. I am thinking of ordering a plainer one to modify but most of the kukri houses in Nepal will make a knife to order to your specs if you desire. I think their sizes are a little off. Mine was listed as having a 10 1/2 inch blade but from hilt to tip of the blade it is actually 7 3/4 inches straight. Order big if you want a chopper. I'm impressed with the overall craftsmanship of this knife. Solid would be one word to describe it.This thing comes straight in from Nepal. It is the same authentic version as issued to their military, so I understand. I can believe it too as this thing is very well made. The blades all come with oil on them and are super heavy duty. The blade on the kukri is very sharp and have some heft. What the dimension specs do not tell you is that the thickness of the blade itself is probably somewhere around 3/8." Impressive. The sheath is a nice addition to keep it in as well. This thing could do some serious cutting and even some chopping if you needed to.
