One bit of important information that isn't listed anywhere is that this produces a 395-400nm wavelength of UV light. UV light is from 10nm to 400nm - visible violet starts at 380nm. That means that this is right on the border of what can be called ultraviolet, and actually projects a good bit of visible violet light as well. It's got the 'black light' effect combined with a bright purple flashlight.On the practical level, that means that this light is visibly bright, enough so that the visible portion can drown out the fluorescence of smaller areas. It's perfectly fine for a bit of fun, but if you're needing to do some serious work, you'd be better off with a light in the 380-385nm range, which makes things fluoresce just as brightly, but doesn't light up the whole area like a flashlight. 16 of 18 people found the following review helpful  Great little light, but has quality problem for long term, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: UV-1403: Ultra Violet 14 UV LED BlackLight I bought this light because I wanted a UV light to play around with. I found this one for cheap and bought it. It's aluminum, with a plastic lens/shield. I've had really bad experiences with flashlights with plastics fronts. With an old cheap one I had, I pushed the switch on the end to turn it on and the entire insides (batteries, battery holder, LEDs) flew out the front.This light, however, seems to be working out great so far. It's built great for only costing $10. Fit and finish is great. All the LEDs function perfect and are bright. It's not waterproof, but I would never expect that from a $10 light. I've had no problems with the electrical connections (another frequent problem I've encountered with cheap LED flashlights). All in all I'd definitely recommend this light. I looked around at local shops and anything comparable to this was in the $40+ price range. This light is excellent! At night he have been able to easily spot scorpions more the 10 feet away. Only problem is that now all our neighbors want to borrow it. Since this arrived 2 days ago we have removed/killed 30+ scorpions from ours and neighbors yards. I'm very happy with this product. It works very well and I absolutly would purchase this again. |
